All surfaces should be clean and free of any contamination (e.g. grease, oil, dirt, residues). Surfaces should be wiped clean with a clean rag using an Alpha Cleaner as recommended in a product TDS. In some cases, hard surfaces such as metals or plastics may need to be abraded to improve adhesion strength. Always clean the surface remove any dust created during abrasion of the substrate.
The period of time after an adhesive has been applied and allowed to dry, during which an effective bond can be achieved by joining the two surfaces.
Depending on the product being used, environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity can affect open time by drying the adhesive faster. The substrates that are being bonded can also affect open time: porous substrates (e.g. wood, paper, fabric) can cause the adhesive to dry faster compared to non-porous substrates (e.g. plastics, metal).
Pot life is defined as the amount of time it takes for an initial mixed viscosity to double from the moment the product is mixed. It is the approximate time that the adhesive, once mixed, is usable.
Depending on the product being used, environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity can affect open time. Pot life can be increased or decreased depending on temperature. The substrates that are being bonded can also affect open time: porous substrates (e.g. wood, paper, fabric) can cause the adhesive to dry faster compared to non-porous substrates (e.g. plastics, metal).
Please refer the TDS for the product for information on mixing ratios by weight and by volume.
Please refer the TDS for the product for information on cure times.
All containers of adhesive should be stored in clean, dry rooms away from direct sunlight at temperatures as specified in the product TDS. Opened containers of adhesive should have their lid, top or cap replaced securely and stored as recommended.
